Alien Samovar
(2008) Digital art.

The traditional Russian samovar was brought to Russia in the 18th century, and they were first produced in Siberia, and much later migrated to Tula. That’s why people don’t go to Tula with their own samovar. Only with strangers. The very first samovars were generally used in the Ancient East more than 3000 years ago. How they got there - history is silent. Perhaps the local residents themselves came up with such a system for heating water, or perhaps it came to them from outside. It is interesting to note that the design of the samovar heater, in which a pipe passes through a container of water in which coal, pine cones or kerosene burns, is a bit like a jet engine turbine. We won’t go into extraterrestrial fantasies, but you must agree that there are questions! There are also questions about Khokhloma, which is sometimes used to decorate samovars. But we have already discussed this topic using the example of another picture. Glasses with cup holders are now popular on long-distance trains. And if the glass is half full, and not quite whole, then the road was clearly very long. And also, inopportunely, a rooster. As you know, he himself does not know how to fly, and the chicken is generally the essence of the parable about the primacy of the egg or the chicken. In a word, not everything is so simple in the role of Samovar in the history of mankind...

Floromechanoid
(2004) Digital art.

This is a hybrid of precision computing, mechanics, automation and plant life forms. The first floromechanoids were seen in the sinking sites of nuclear submarines. Significant background radiation caused serious mutations in the underwater world, mainly algae and complex plant cultures that grew through the destroyed mechanisms. While the electronic brain of the submarine, developed in a military-safe manner, continued to function. Over many years of such symbiosis and mutations, a hybrid was formed. It consisted of plants that supplied the system with energy and ensured better adaptability of the mechanisms to the underwater world, as well as surviving mechanisms, automation and the remains of the electronic brain. There are legends about the intelligence of floromechanoids, who inherited the ability to self-learn from computer systems. If the legends are true, then soon a non-human intelligent race will emerge from the ocean. And it is unknown what she will do with her unlucky human parent...

Tree of Life
(2008) Digital art

The tree of life is a symbol that connects generations. The roots are the ancestors, the trunk is the parents, and the leaves, flowers and fruits are the descendants. But it also connects three different worlds with each other: the world of Earth, the world of Light and the world of Darkness.

The World of Darkness is ambiguous. This is an endless abyss, full of the unknown and incomprehensible. But our ancestors are there. And Darkness is the beginning and the end of everything. She gives life, and she also takes it back. Darkness is primary and without it there will be neither Earth nor Light.

The world of Earth emerged from the Darkness, it is tangible and practical. This is the basis and support. And this is a source of resources. Here the spiral of life begins to twist, growth and development occur. It can be influenced and explored.

The world of light gives joy and hope, and all living things are drawn to it. But it is ephemeral and short-lived. The light source will go out - and the world of Light will return to Darkness.

Thus, the Tree of Life takes its roots in the world of Darkness, gains strength in the world of Earth and reaches out to the world of Light. And while the light burns, the Tree grows and life continues its rotation in the wheel of Samsara.

Swamp Bat
(2002) Digital art.

This is one of the few works where there is no coded meaning or philosophy. Here I tried to combine the style of H.R. Giger (has everyone seen the movie “Alien”?) and a positive atmosphere. The work is naive, sexually preoccupied (“Doctor, I always think about this!”) and inspired by mysticism and fantasy.

Regarding the plot... Well, let's say there is a Planet in the Solar System that is always hidden from the Earth by the Sun. But due to gravitational and quantum distortions, the Earth is visible from it. And there live creatures whose images, due to the same distortions, are projected into the Earth’s information field and appear in pictures, stories and films. One of these creatures is the Bat, which lives in a hot swamp filled with acidic solutions and toxic fumes. Due to the aggressive environment, it is practically devoid of skin, due to which, in a state of hibernation, roots and snags are barely distinguishable and invisible to even more terrible predators living nearby. But every morning the Bat spreads its wings and directs its gaze to the Sun in order to convey its mental image through the Earth’s information field and instill melancholy and horror in those who try to draw inspiration from it.

Identification of Porno
(2003) Digital art.

Illustration for the magazine “DRUGOY” under the heading “Wind”. Basically the painting shows a sea serpent, a shell and a heart. But if you have some more slippery associations, then don’t be shy - you are absolutely right. ☺

Candles
(2000) Digital art.

Romantic candles for a romantic dinner in a romantic setting. A bit predatory? But perhaps this is exactly what modern romance should be.

Megalomania
(2003) Digital art.

One day I thought that I should draw a picture with a dedication. But it's not that simple. First of all, I have many friends worthy of dedication. Secondly, the subject may not like the work. Or it will be so good that other friends will be offended that the work is not about them. In short, everything is complicated. But it was a shame to abandon the idea.

And then one day, waiting for the result of the next calculations, I sat and drew monograms with my initials. The picture turned out funny. A logical conclusion suggested itself. And the idea struck me to dedicate the painting to myself. I am my one and only. I'm not offended at myself. And even if I’m offended, I won’t tell anyone and I’ll definitely forgive you. And if someone calls you an egoist, then this is also to some extent a compliment.

So I decided to paint a picture dedicated to myself. And he called it “Delusions of Grandeur.”

P.S. Although, if you like the picture and the initials match, then you can say that it is dedicated to you. It will be good too.

Alien Hohloma
(2007) Digital art.

Khokhloma painting is an integral part of Russian culture. However, like many other areas of folk aesthetics, it is forgotten and allegedly loses relevance. But if you look at traditional Khokhloma, you will notice some understatement and huge potential for the development of images. It is possible that the patterns we are familiar with are just remnants of the powerful and beautiful artistic style of our distant ancestors. Or the mysterious heritage of other civilizations adapted to medieval realities. Now I can’t make it out anymore...

Chess Sex
(2003) Digital art.

You can talk about sex for a long time, with taste and pleasure. The topic is a hackneyed one, but always relevant. You can also tell a lot about chess, remembering Karpov, Kasparov and Ostap Bender. You can draw many analogies, allegories, or at least lie something. For example, that any pawn, if it really wants to or is just lucky, can become a Queen and outwit any Kings. And that real Kings do not need to develop activity at all - everyone is already fussing around them. True, there is a danger that some pawn will push against the wall or you may unexpectedly run into checkmate.

But I will not give any analogies. The picture simply depicts a slight flirtation between two chess pieces. What comes out of it is up to your imagination. ☺

Initially, the work was prepared for the magazine “OTHER” (in the section dedicated to “this very thing”). And as usual, it was drawn in a fairly short time frame. But the result was interesting, and I decided to make a big and beautiful picture. I rebuilt the sprawling castle in the background, cut up the grass, added variety, and to show off the look, blew in some smoke.

Yery / Ы
(2000) Digital art.

As is easy to see, “PI” is an inverted russien letter “Ы” (Yery). This means that the letter “Ы” has the value Ы=1/PI=0.318... In addition, it was noticed that in nature, which is inherent in numbers, the combination of numbers 1, 3 and 8 is stable. Look around - you may be convinced that the numbers of apartments, cars, etc. most often consist of these three digits. I first noticed this when my car’s license plate number turned out to be 138. Since then, this combination has constantly haunted me. And since the number “Ы” has a value consisting of a stable combination of numbers, then the value of the number Ы is stable, which means that in relation to “PI” it is primary, therefore, the number “PI” is secondary (as a result PI = 1/Ы ).

If we go further, then circles and other geometry, and, as a consequence, physics, mathematics and other sciences, are based on the number “Ы”. Thus, it becomes obvious that “Ы” lies at the basis of world knowledge.

Parallel Sunrise
(2003) Digital art.

This is what a sunrise might look like in worlds parallel to ours. It would seem that it is almost our Sun, almost our sea... But something is wrong here, something is not right. And it’s not surprising - the deeper we go into parallel worlds, the further we move away from our world, the brighter the differences. And it is still unknown where our multidimensional Sun actually goes after sunset and how it is transformed in the worlds it comes to.

Sunset Forever
(2007) Digital art.

The painting depicts a natural phenomenon, subjectized as a Witch, engaged in the absorption of the objective Sun. On a parallel semantic plane, there is an ouroboros effect, because the Witch absorbs the space in which she herself is located. This strongly resonates with idealistic philosophy, according to which space itself is a material projection, shaped by the ideas of those who find themselves in it.

In addition, there is hidden eroticism in the picture, since the absorbed Sun can be perceived as the end of an oblong object ☺

Well, if this is too difficult, then we can assume that the lady just wanted something hot ☺

Android Warrior (2009) Digital art.

Medieval love
(2003) Digital art.

Red roses, sharp daggers, hot hearts and boiling blood are the main attributes of medieval romance. On their basis, love stories were built, issues of honor were resolved... and all other issues too.

Illustration for the “Wind” column of the “Other” magazine.

Flowers and Guns
(2003) Digital art.

Cast iron cannons and baskets with flowers, war and peace. One for the sake of the other, and the other for the sake of one. If the dagger is not sharp enough, a cannon rolls out. Breaking through the wall of a fortress or breaking through the side of a brigantine in order to throw flowers at the feet of a beautiful stranger - what is not the path of a hero?

Illustration for the “Wind” column of the “Other” magazine.

Butterfly
(2000) Digital art.

This is my very first art work in the field of digital art, and indeed in the field of art in general. In a way, it is the germ of my creativity. It is inspired by the work of the artist Hans Rudolf Giger (HR Giger), who is “Alien”, who is biomechanoids, and whom Salvador Dali himself envied because he was really fucked up and did not show off.

For a long time, the dark green color scheme and biomechanical elements became my favorites. True, from biomechanics I quickly moved on to floromechanoids, and much later I diversified the color scheme.

Technically, this work can be treated as a diagram of a hose-winged flying creature living in a toxic radioactive environment. This is a kind of firefly that shines with Cherenkov radiation and produces such a dose of radiation that it kills a horse in a minute. Do not touch!
